57 years ago, the playoff match for the club World Cup between Racing de Avellaneda and Celtic Glasgow was played at the Centenario Stadium. The Argentine team, led by Juan José Pizzuti, won 1-0. The goal was scored by Juan Carlos "Chango" Cárdenas at 57 minutes into the match in the goal located above the Colombes Grandstand.
The match in Scotland had been a 1-0 local victory. While the rematch in Buenos Aires was a local victory but 2-1, in this way, a defining match had to be played. The chosen place was the World Football Monument located in Montevideo.
