CAFO

In 1929 Uruguay assumed the responsibility of organizing that first World Cup of a sport that resonates, like no other, in popular fervor, it also undertook the arduous commitment of providing a suitable stage for the singular significance of the event.

It was then that the municipal government of Montevideo provided the extensive lands necessary for the erection of the work and implemented the organization of the "Administrative Commission of the Official Field" (CAFO) in which it is represented and which has since managed the stadium.
