95th Anniversary of Centenario Stadium

Fecha de publicación: 18/07/2025

This July 18th, the iconic Estadio Centenario celebrates 95 years since its historic inauguration in 1930, the same day that commemorated the centennial of the Uruguayan constitution. Since then, this symbol of world football has witnessed unforgettable moments and great transformations.

It has hosted Uruguay's participation in four Copa Américas (1942, 1956, 1967, and 1995), as well as the 1980 World Cup.

Designed by Juan Antonio Scasso and built in just eight months, the Centenario hosted the 1930 World Cup.

The Uruguayan Football Museum operates under the iconic Torre de los Homenajes (Tower of Tributes), with collections of trophies, jerseys, and memorabilia from the national sport.
